Doernbecher Dash Update:
Even with the crazy weather, we had a great turn out of Doernbecher Families. We had so many people who made this event a success. This year was the first year we asked the Air Force ROTC to volunteer; they provided 20 volunteers to help with our event and we couldn’t be happier with their participation. They are definitely true champions of community and country! Also, OHSU provided 10 wonderful volunteers this year to help out. It is always a pleasure to work with OHSU and to be able to count on them year after year for this event! Even with these two wonderful organizations participating, we couldn’t have pulled this event off without our very own CSCC members, workers and supporters. All of these wonderful volunteers provided popcorn and cotton candy. They helped the kids make pine wood derby cars and race them. The highlight for the Doernbecher families was the Kids Karavan with the race car drivers. This was an opportunity for the Doernbecher kids to ride around the track in real race cars! How cool is that?! Words don’t express the joy all the volunteers experienced by seeing all the smiles on the kids faces. It is certainly payment enough for all the effort involved to put something like this on.
A special Thank You to Jess Heitman and Kristine Craine who provided lunches for all the families, volunteers, spectators, and workers. And also to PRO 3 who did a wonderful job providing dinner for all!!
And lets not forget all or our wonderful sponsers…
